Ikaru means Life in Japanese, one of my all time favourite cultures. So this page is about my Life, I suppose. My About page.

About me pages are always so hard to write, I never know where to start. My beautiful husband, Sam, has told me that its only a person with any sort of self awareness that feels they don’t know themselves. So most people could probably rabbit on for ages about all the things that make them the person they are. Or, that they think makes them the person they are.

I think this might because I confuse the person I am with the person that I want to be, and don’t know where one ends and the other begins. But I’ll see what I can do.

My name is Cassandra, although around the internet I go by the handles of Roo or Annean. I was born in the south west of Western Australia and have lived there all my life. I’ve been fortunate (or un, some would say) enough that all my holidays experiences have been spent in this beautiful land, I’ve never even left the state I was born in. This doesn’t bother me as much as it might some who have the urge to travel, I love my homeland.

Much of my childhood was spent growing up on and around my grandparent’s farm – and in this I know I’ve led a privileged life. I’ve since moved to the city and cannot fathom how so many, SO MANY, people can live their entire lives here without ever stepping a foot out into the countryside around them. I begin to feel sick the longer I’m away from my roots, the concrete jungle that’s been my home since I was married does not suit me well.

I live with my wonderful man, one of my sisters and her partner in Perth, Western Australia. I work as a waitress – a job I more or less love, less when my day is rotten. But its a good foot in the door to setting me on the path I hope to be walking down. One of my life dreams is to own my own teahouse/coffeeshop.

Another life dream is to be a published author – even if I publish it myself, I don’t particularly want the fame, or the money. Its seeing my own words in print that propels my desire. And still another is to live on my grandparent’s farm, to build my own house and to live my life with Sam as self-sufficiently as possible. My last two life dreams (why settle for just one?) is to one day own my own library… I collect books, I have an unhealthy fascination for them perhaps, but I love them nevertheless… and to become a GOOD photographer.

My loves and passions include;

Tea, Dice, Hats, Books, Cooking, RPGs, Fantasy, Steampunk, Sleeping, Sundays, Medieval, Food, Sensory Pleasures, Dogs, Walking, Nature and Rain. There are of course so many more but these are perhaps my favourite things.

I suppose there’ll be more to come later…
